¡Amo a mi familia! Después de vivir en los Estados Unidos por 36 años, regresé a vivir en Puerto Rico para estar cerca de mi familia. ¡Me encanta vivir en Puerto Rico! Nací en San Juan, Puerto Rico, en donde recibí un BA en Educación de la Universidad de Puerto Rico (UPR – Rio Piedras). Enseñé en Texas por 10 años y en Wisconsin por 26 años. Recibí 2 maestrías en educación de la Universidad de Wisconsin-Madison, seguidas de un certificado como maestra bilingüe y de inglés como segundo idioma. Mi pasión como profesional es la educación. Como maestra bilingüe, de inglés como segundo idioma, y consultora de educación, he tenido la oportunidad de ayudar a la comunidad a alcanzar sus metas a nivel personal y profesional.

I am from Wisconsin, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After 3 years teaching in Idaho, I returned to the University of Wisconsin for a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Education. For decades I conducted research on innovative approaches to teaching and learning, from elementary school up through the university level.
There are several ways in which I add to Neysa’s broad and deep knowledge and skills for teaching English. For example, as a native English speaker, I can model word pronunciation so that you can recognize the same words spoken with a different accent. Like you, I am in the process of learning a new language; Spanish! I understand many of the challenges you have because I am dealing with the same ones in my Spanish learning. As a fellow learner of a second language I understand that the goal is better understanding, not speaking perfectly.
